Two of our archers in BK Siljanspilen have qualified and are going to the World Championships in horseback archery! For the first time in world history, a complete World Championships in horseback archery with Korean, Hungarian and and Polish hunt track is organized.
The championship is hosted by IHAA, the International Horseback Archery Alliance together with Némethy Horseback Archery Academy, the place is Hungary and we can now proudly announce that two out of seven horseback archers sent to represent Sweden, is coming from our archeryclub where we (Mats and Ylwa Woxmark) work as non-profit trainers/coaches. The archers are: Marcus Hjortsberg and Mats Woxmark The rest of the representants are: Emil Eriksson, Jan Strömberg, Ann-Sofie Wredendahl, Daniel Håkans and Anders O Jönsson.
Last year was an exceptionally good year for Siljanspilen. Marcus Hjortsberg, junior made a debut at the International competitionarena, including a bronze in the European Championships, and finally he also took home the Swedish Championshiptitle and became the youngest horseback archery champion in Sweden ever, 14 years old.
Our members also scored several personalbests and Mats Woxmark, who is also the maincoach and ranked five among the seniors, had a strong finish at the Grand Prix in Sypniewo, Poland, where he managed to qualify for the ”100-club” in the Hungarian track. (Where you have a total score over 100 points, only a few people in Sweden are in the club so far).
Siljanspilens horseback archers have performed very high shooting points historically and increased their shooting points throughout the last season as well. Not rarely around 70% of the total score, which shows that progress is going forward with speed. It will be an exciting year for sure! Photo by: Anna Hjortsberg
